Val di Cecina (Cecina Valley) offers many chances of diversion, for those who love nature and who like to visit historical cities and villages which show the best of human and natural landscape of Tuscany.

Really close to the farm house is the Natural Reserve of Berignone-Tatti, inside of which is possible to find signed paths that penetrate in the mediterranean wood, bordering the river and fields of grain, or, otherwise, to have nice simple relaxing walks surrounded by nature.

The preferred path of the visitors is the one that goes from the Reserve’s entry till the so called Masso degli Specchi (Mirrors Rock), the perfect place to swim in the river; the path goes border blond fields of grain, enters in a enchated course inside the forest and flow in front of the river’s bed, where it continues to show always new delicious corners.
Other naturalistic destinations are Rocca Sillana (Silla’s Rock), Rupe di Micciano (Micciano’s Cliff) and the Monterufoli Forest.

For those who loves arts, surely first destination is the city of Volterra, etruscan-roman historical town, that preserve some pearls like the famous Porta all’Arco (Arch’s Door), the Roman Theatre, the ancient walls, the Castle, Priori Square besides the whole center with its characteristic alleys, and one of the most important etruscan museum of Italy, the Guarnacci museum, or the picture-gallery with Rosso Fiorentino’s works.

Together
with Volterra, many other small towns on the surrounding
hills give beauty to the Cecina Valley, everyone of them having an historical
center (roman and medieval) builded with natural stone, and nice alley with
panoramic views: Montecatini, Castel
di Querceto, Castelnuovo, Casale
Marittimo and Montescudaio.

For those who love the beach, to get the coast takes 30 minutes driving, with bus or with the local little train; if you like the sand beaches go to Cecina, Bibbona or San Vincenzo; if you like reefs go to Castiglioncello or Quercianella
